Bringing your bike back to life!
MWS are motorcycle wiring loom specialists, be that regarding the duplication and replacement of old looms or custom motorcycle wiring designed from scratch. Drawing from three decades of experience in electronic repair and maintenance, as well as over 25 years of motorbike ownership, MWS is well-placed to provide the perfect solution to your needs.
We treat every bike as we would our own, so no bike leaves the workshop unless the job is 100% perfect.
This service is for anyone who has a custom bike or is working on a restoration and doesn’t have a loom to copy. MWS will design, build, fit and commission the wiring loom on the bike so it is electrically complete and capable of running.
First, you will need to get in touch with MWS through our contact page. Your particular bike will be discussed, and an estimate of cost and lead time given. MWS will provide a written estimate for the job, this will be e-mailed to you. A build slot will then be booked for you and the bike will need to be delivered to MWS’ workshop a few days before, to ensure that any necessary parts are on order. Prior to work commencing, MWS will need an advance payment of 50% of the labour plus any high-cost parts (e.g., switches, Motogadget parts etc.). Upon completion you’ll be notified and the final invoice submitted for payment, and the date and time of collection will be agreed. Upon collection, the bike will be demonstrated to you.
Every bike is different and the cost depends on if the new loom is a copy of the original, or a design from scratch. A stock loom for a simple carburetted bike, a budget of around £500-£600 would be appropriate for labour. A loom designed from scratch would be more expensive and a sensible budget for labour would be £800-£900. Parts will vary in cost with the complexity of the loom, so it’s sensible to budget around £60-£80 for a simple loom and £100+ for more complex looms.
Yes, MWS can build looms for fuel-injected bikes but, due to the increase in the number of wires, the cost is higher. A budget of around £1500 for labour and £150 for parts is realistic.
It depends on the ignition system. Any that require the flywheel to be removed or the use of special tools needs to be fitted by a competent mechanic. If it is a simple stator plate and pick up (e.g., Dyna Ignition), these can be fitted. It will however, need to be set up for best performance.
MWS will check the electrical parts fitted to the bike visually for any signs of wear, damage or failure. Electrical checks will also be carried out, e.g. resistance checking of stator coils, but electrical parts which require factory specific test equipment can only have a functional test once the loom is built and the engine running.
Yes, MWS has fitted numerous Motogadget systems and has good experience with installing and configuring them. Note: if you’ve fitted and wired up your bike yourself and have a problem with it, MWS does not provide a telephone support service. Contact your supplier or Motogadget directly for support.
Yes, there are alternative products. Please contact MWS to discuss what’s available.
Unfortunately, MWS does not carry out fabrication. The bike must have these key parts fitted: Battery box; Headlight; Indicators; Tail light; Numberplate bracket; Regulator/rectifier; and Mounting for electrical parts, e.g. fuses, ignition module etc.
Yes, this can be done however, it takes a lot of planning and time so the cost will be higher.

Contact MWS, through our contact page, to discuss what you need. Your particular loom will be discussed, a cost estimate given and the current lead time notified. Send the loom to MWS including: Postal address; E-mail; Telephone numbers; Make and model of motorcycle; and any wiring diagrams. Upon receipt the loom will be checked and booked in. If there are any issues noted, such as the loom not being complete or connectors not being available, MWS will contact you to discuss alternative solutions or the return of the loom. You will be contacted prior to work commencing on your loom, to check you’re still OK with going ahead. On completion, you’ll be invoiced for the work, plus shipping.
The cost depends on how many wires are in the loom and the price of the connectors. For a simple carburetted bike, £300 is a reasonable estimate. For more complicated looms, £350 - £450.
Yes, these can be duplicated, but the cost is higher due to the wire count and connectors. Budget between £600 and £800.
Yes, there are two things: The original loom must be complete. If it is too badly damaged and the length of the wire branches and connector pin locations cannot be defined, work cannot commence; and, if connectors are not available, either because they’re discontinued or can only be purchased in large quantities, work cannot commence.
Whilst this is very helpful, most wiring diagrams are already readily available. Sometimes, however, it is not possible to find a diagram. In these cases, the loom can be continuity checked and a diagram drawn out. This is quite time consuming and will increase the cost.
Lead time depends on how much work is booked in; an estimate of the lead time will be notified when discussing your loom MWS.
To be fair to all customers, MWS has a strict first in first out policy.
